What I like about my work
I like interacting with a variety of different people. I get a lot of satisfaction from devising solutions to people’s problems and addressing their concerns. I like getting involved in my clients’ significant projects and working with them to get the right outcomes.
What I’ve done in the past
I moved from Hamilton to Dunedin to study law, graduating in 1997. While studying, I worked as a summer clerk at Caudwells which I enjoyed, and so I applied to the firm after finishing University. Caudwells then merged with Anderson Lloyd in 2002. I became a partner in 2003.
My approach to working with my clients
I like to assist my clients by delivering expert advice and identifying practical options for them to achieve their goals. I think it is important to clearly set out the legal principles, the options available, and provide guidance to my clients so that they can make informed decisions. My approach is collaborative and organised, with the focus on achieving results.
What I enjoy at work
I like working in the specialist Resource Management team, especially as it is one of the leading practices in New Zealand.
What I enjoy outside of work
I really like my outdoor pursuits, especially fishing, hunting and surfing.
What I enjoy about living in the South Island
The South Island allows me to enjoy my outdoor interests, including fishing, hunting and surfing. Everything is right on the doorstep and there are fantastic opportunities to go and explore the countryside.
